BATAVIA - Marilyn J. Lammers, 92, of the Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016. She was born October 4, 1923 in Newton, Iowa the daughter of Ivor and Flossie (nee Gardner) Turley. Marilyn was united in marriage to Norman Lammers June 28, 1947 in Newton, Iowa. Marilyn loved being a mother and supporter for her children. She was a teacher and advocate to inspire them at using their individual talents. In Marilyn's spare time she loved music especially piano and participating in the choir at the Holmstad. She was also a talented artist accomplished in painting, quilting and crafts. She was a member of the River Walk Quilt Guild and the Knitting Group That Doesn't Knit. Marilyn enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs, Bulls and Bears. Marilyn was a previous member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Aurora where she served as a Eucharistic Minister; she is a current member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Marilyn will forever leave her legacy and teachings to her children and grandchildren particularly her charitable giving, her organizational traits and resilience of character.

She is survived by her six children Mary Cay (Donald) Hahn of Crest Hill, IL, David Lammers of Peoria, IL, James (Monica) Lammers of Gypsum, CO, Tom (Yumi) Lammers, of Homer Glen, CJ (Sarah Rauber) of Chesterfield, MA and Nancy (Steve) Simms of Saybrook, IL; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Norman Lammers; a daughter Barbara Jean who died at infancy and a grandson Zachary Lammers.

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 12, 2016 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia, IL 60510. Funeral services will begin with prayers from the funeral home 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church to celebrate Mass at 10:30 A.M. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Aurora. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
