Tammy Wickett, age 50 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial will follow at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 24, 2017, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the church. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Tammy Wickett Benefit Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Lavern and Connie (Bisom) Schakel, Tammy was born on October 19, 1966, in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1985. On September 6, 2008, Tammy was united in marriage to Robert S. Wickett at the Ivy Church. She worked as a child care provider and also coached the PCM Cheer Team for 10 years. Kids were her life, not only her three children, but also everyone that she watched over the years.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Robert; three children, Melinda Williams of Denver, Colorado, Jennifer (Paul) Williams of Newton, and Johnathon Williams of Monroe; her mother, Judith Schakel of Newton; three brothers, Merlin Schakel of Grinnell, Chad (Tammy) Schakel of Newton, and Chris (Christy) Schakel of Newton; two half-sisters, Stephanie Frick of Altoona and Julie (Doug) Bryce of Decorah; several nieces, nephews, and grand dogs.
