Herbert Kline Sr., 65, of North Las Vegas, Nev., a longtime resident of Colfax and a pioneer in the United States Air Mail Service, died Saturday, Nov. 30th in Las Vegas. Death was from a heart attack.
The son of S.T. and Dorra Starkweather Kline, he was born March 7, 1903 in Colfax and attended Colfax schools.
Mr. Kline was employed at the Yackey Aviation Co. in Chicago before coming to the Monroe Co. in Colfax where he was employeed for more than 40 years.
He was married to Alma Bruce in 1926 in Nevada, Iowa.
Mr. Kline, who moved from Colfax in 1964, was member of the United States Air Mail Pioneer Organization.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and an infant sister.
Survivors are his wife, Alma; a son, Herbert Kline Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Opal Rodgers of Colfax.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4th at the United Methodist Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Laurence Garrett, minister of the church, conducted the services.
Mrs. Harold Hunter was the soloist and Miss Eleanor Howell was the organist.
The bearers were: Robert Clark, Crawford Lippincott, Ralph Woods, Roger Hopkins, Darrold Hunter and Fred Behrend.
Joyce Orcutt and Mrs. John Bale Jr. served on the flower committee.
Burial was in the Colfax (Iowa) Cermetery.
