Adra E. Clymer, 91, of Newton died on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Park Centre in Newton. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Metz Community Church may be left at the funeral home.

Adra, the daughter of Merl and Zora (Autry) Van Gilder, was born on February 16, 1925 in Colfax, Iowa. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County and graduated from Prairie City High School. Adra was united in marriage to Forrest “Frosty” L. Clymer on July 6, 1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Frosty and Adra celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2007 at the Sugar Grove Vineyards and Gathering Place. Adra was a member of the Metz Community Church, Sugar Grove Grange, Jasper Pamona Grange, State Grange, National Grange, Jasper County Farm Bureau, Sugar Grove Ladies Farm Bureau Club, and RSVP. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed sewing, baking, camping, and going on tours with friends.

Those left to honor Adra’s memory are her daughter, Cindy (Ralph) Raggio of Marshalltown; two grandchildren, Aaron Taylor and Nicole Ratcliff; five great-grandchildren, Dahlia, Andrew, Zach, Gracie, and Mikhal; one great-great-grandchild, Avery; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Forrest “Frosty”; a daughter, Janie; two brothers, Conrad (Sarah) Van Gilder and Murray (Fern) Van Gilder; sister, Elna (Sant) Saunders; a brother in infancy; nephew, Chuck Van Gilder; and a niece, Karla Charon. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 20 Jan 2016.
