Karla J. Lewis, age 54 of Newton, passed away at Newton Healthcare in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church. Burial will follow at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 23, 2017, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to The Karla Lewis Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Charles Griffith and Francis Eleanor (Welch) Lewis, Karla was born on September 10, 1962, in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1980. Karla loved cooking, camping, and riding horses. Those left to honor her memory include; her two children, Hattie (Cody Madden) Lewis of Northwood, Iowa and Rodney Lewis of Newton; six grandchildren, Joel, Noah, Gavyn, Porschea, Aspen and Victoria; her mother Eleanor; brothers, Donald Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Kevin (Beth) Lewis, and Kirk (Janet) Lewis all of Colfax and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Karla in death was her father, a grandson, Elijah and a sister-in-law, Sherri Lewis. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 20 Jan 2017.
