HOOK

Saturday afternoon a message was received by Mr. Fay Hook, saying that his sister, Miss Amy Hook’s condition was considered critical, and that if he wished to see her alive he must come immediately. This morning he left for Ft. Collins, Colo., at 7:26. Shortly after a message was delivered saying that her death had occurred yesterday, and requesting him not to come as they would bring the body home for burial. A message was sent to Mr. Hook, and it is expected that he will receive it at Avoca, Iowa, and that he will return to Newton at 6:35 this evening.

Miss Hook departed with her parents and younger brother, a few months ago, for Colorado. As she had been in Wyoming and Colorado twice before for her health, and had each time been greatly benefited, hopes were entertained by her family and friends that such would be the case this time, as they expected to make that their future home. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Monday, July 17, 1905, Page 1, Column 3
