James Heifner was born in Jasper County, Iowa, 1865 and died August 6, 1905. In 1885 he united with the M. E. Church at Hickory Grove schoolhouse.

The funeral was conducted from the Union Chapel by Rev. C. Knoll assisted by Rev. Robt. Boyd, of Mingo, Ia. Interment was made in the cemetery near the church. ~ The Newton Daily News, Wednesday, August 9, 1905, Page 1, Column 4
