Maurine L. Kennedy, 72, of Johnston, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be at Fredregill Family Funeral Home on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow the visitation at 3:15 p.m. at Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa.

Maurine Lorena Kennedy was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on September 24, 1944 to Denver and Cleo (Berry) Cross. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1962. After raising four children she earned her LPN degree and had a rewarding career in various nursing homes, retiring in 2003. Maurine was a member of the Church of God in Knoxville, Iowa and her days began and ended with her bible devotions. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, watching the Hallmark Channel, reading and experiencing nature.

Those left to cherish her loving memories are her children Robyn (Dale) Banks, Malonne “Shelly” (David) Jacobi, Sue Lynn (Jerry McLaughlin) Lehigh, and Lawrence Kennedy; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other close family members.

Maurine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Seward, David, and Michael, and grandson John Eric Jacobi.
