--------------------------------------------------
Robert Magee died at his home on Prairie Avenue yesterday, March 15, 1905, at 9 a.m.

He was born in Laheen, County of Craven, Ireland. He was married in the city of New York, June 20, 1854, to Isabella Armstrong. They had seven children, three of whom died in infancy and are buried in the east.

Mr. Magee brought his family to Linn County, Iowa, in August 1856 where his wife died March 4, 1883. The four children that survive their mother are Mrs. C. M. Scott, Marion, Iowa, Mrs. J. B. Schalk, Newton, Iowa, Mr. David Magee, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. H. W. Flanagan, Oelwein, Iowa.

Mr. Magee was again married to Mrs. D. L. Guthrie, April 15, 1884. To this union one child was born, Martha Ann Magee, who now survives her father.

Mr. Magee attended the Episcopal Church with his parents from a child and later was confirmed in that church. While in Marion he united with the Presbyterian Church there. Since he lived at Newton he has been interested in both churches, but was a member of the Presbyterian Church. ~ The Newton Daily News, Thursday, March 16, 1905, Page 4, Column 5
