October 13, 1955 ~ October 25, 2016 (age 61)

Oretha Lynn Brawley, 61, of Newton, died Wednesday, October 25, 2016, at her home. Private family services will be held, and she will be buried at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials to the Alzheimers’ Association can be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. If mailing, please add “Attn: Brawley Family” to the envelope.

Lynn worked as a cook at Careage of Newton from 2007-2014. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting, especially making blankets for her grandchildren. She also loved Elvis and Jimmie Johnson.

Those left to honor Lynn’s memory include her three daughters: Yolonda (Chad) Juggert of Canyon Country, CA, Renee (Matt Bucklin) Brawley of Newton, and Jackie (Dave) Braaksma of Pipe Creek, TX; her grandchildren: Christian, Amanda, Brianna, Stevie, Ava, Reese, Melissa, Chase, and Hunter; her great-grandchildren: Kynleigh, Taytum, and Baby Boy Sharp; her siblings: Margie, Beverly, Beccy, Alleenn, Kathey, Wayne Daggett, and Steve Daggett; and many nieces and nephews.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Elaine (Lane) Pittman; brother, Jerry Pittman; and nephew, Jerry Pittman II. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 25 Oct 2016.
