Hough Funeral Services Held
Rev. R. F. Lavender in Charge of Rites Held at Hough Home Tuesday
Funeral services for Miss Ella Hough, who died at her home here Monday, were conducted yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Hough home. Rev. R. F. Lavendar was in charge of the services and music was furnished by Mrs. Alfred Luck and Miss Clover Loveridge.
Pall bearers were Leigh Hough, Fred Hough, Jack Ross, Edward McConkey, Harold McConkey, and Harry Wallick. Burial was made in the Newton cemetery. Many elaborate floral offerings had been sent by relatives and friends.
Miss Hough was the last surviving sister of the well-known author, Emerson Hough, and had lived in Newton since her childhood, when the Hough family moved here from Virginia.
She remained in the home after the other members of the family had married, and cared for her parents until their death. She was also an interested and constant worker for the North Newton mission.
She is survived by her brother, Dr. Norman Hough of Wabado, Minn., and her nieces, Mrs. Charles McConkey of Newton and Mrs. Helen Meredith and Mrs. Audrey Oliver of California.
Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. Edward Hough of Villisca, Ia., a sister-in-law of Miss Hough, Howard Hough of Chicago, a cousin, and Dr. Norman D. Hough of Wabado, Minn.
