Brainard F. Chedester, 84, of Cedar, a longtime resident of Newton, died Tuesday morning, July 17 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Norman (Ruth Ann) Johannes of Cedar.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at Newton Memorial Gardens.

David Pinkerton and Robert Lewis, the latter of the Oskaloosa American Legion, will conduct services.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, July 18, at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon.

Survivors are a son, Lee Edward Chedester of Taintor; another daughter, Mrs. David (Rose Marie) Green of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother, a son and a granddaughter.

Mr. Chedester, an Army veteran of World War II, was an implement firm mechanic and was a greenskeeper at the Newton Country Club for 10 years.

The son of William and Alice Belle Kingdon Chedester, he was born May 30, 1900 in LaMoille. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 18 July 1984- Page 2.
