John D. Goodlaxson Services Held Sept. 16

John duckett Goodlaxson, 77, of 701S. Goodrich St., Colfax, a resident of Jasper County since 1947 died Sunday morning, Sept. 13, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center of cardiac arrest.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

Don Cox of Fort Dodge and Dale Spencer of Cedar Rapids conducted services. Burial was in Colfax Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Esther Marion of Colfax; two sons, J. David of Galesburg, Ill. and James M. of Union; two daughters, Sharon L. Wierwille of Powell, Tenn., and Suzanne J. Lanzagorta of Colfax; and eight grandchildren.

He wa preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Mr. Goodlaxson, who served as a naval officer during World War II, had been a design engineer at the maytag Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1980. After his retirement, he was active in Goodlaxson Manufacturing Inc.

The son of Elroy O. and Susan Duckett Goodlaxson he was born July 25, 1915 near Afton and was graduated from Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Mo.

He was married to Esther Marion Pratt May 22, 1940 in Lexington, Mo.
