Postmaster at Galesburg Dead
On Christmas Day, Mr. Zebedee Mosier, the postmaster at Galesburg, passed away from earth to his reward in Heaven. Mr. Mosier had been in feeble health for some time, but was able to be at his post of duty until about ten days before his death. He was a man who had won the respect and esteem of the community by his upright life.
Zebedee Mosier was born July 13, 1825, in the town of Day, Saratoga County, New York. Was married to Mrs. Anna Austin, Sept. 9, 1849. To them were born two sons, both of whom are dead. The family came to Iowa in August of 1866. Mr. Mosier joined the Evangelical church that same year. They lived in Monroe and afterwards in Galesburg, Mr. Mosier was a wagon maker by trade. In 1892, he was appointed postmaster at Galesburg, and has held that position ever since, giving good satisfaction to the people. He lived to a good old age, being seventy-four years, five months and twelve days old at the time of his death.
The funeral will be held this (Wednesday) morning at ten o’clock, at the M.E. church in Galesburg, conducted by Rev. Stiles. The body will be interred in the Monroe cemetery, as one of his sons lies buried there. The bereaved wife has the sympathy of the community in her affliction.
