Old Settler Gone
Mr. H. Bliss was born in Milton, Vermont, February 24, 1834. His parents moved to Hartford, Licking county, Ohio, when he was four months old, where Mr. Bliss grew to manhood. He was married in 1862 to Hannah Clayton, moving to Newton, Jasper County, in 1862. To them were born one daughter, Jennie, who is the wife of Mr. Wm. Phillips.
Death came and took Mr. Bliss from our midst, May 3, 1900. The funeral services were held at the old homestead, four miles west of Newton, Saturday afternoon, Rev. B. C. Baumgardner officiating. All that was mortal was laid to rest in the Newton cemetery alongside the remains of his mother.
Mr. Bliss was well and favorably known; he was honest and upright in his dealings and had the respect of his neighbors and acquaintances. He will be sadly missed from our midst. The loved ones left behind have the deep sympathy of all in their bereavement.
Card of Thanks – We desire to publicly express our sincere gratitude for the many tokens of sympathy by word and act which we have received from many kind friends at the time of our great sorrow. Mrs. H. Bliss and Family.
