Lucille Gearhart Services Held May 23

Lucille Gregory Gearhart, 79, of Colfax, died Thursday, May 21, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.

The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, conducted services. The soloist was Susan Riley, and the organist was Pat Evans.

Casket bearers were Steven Failor, Brian Emery, Mark Wolf, Randy Fifer, Darren Gearhart, and Ryan Gearhart.

Survivors are four step-daughters, Brynadeen (Mrs. Roland) Failor of Newton, Shirley (Mrs. Kenneth) Fifer of Branson, Mo., Robert (Mrs. Donald) Emery of Drexel, Mo., and Jane (Mrs. Newell) Wolfe of newton; two step-sons, Marvin Gearhart and Harry Gearhart, both of Newton; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Rex Adkins in 1850, second husband, Leslie George Gearhart, four brothers, two sisters, and an infant step-daughter and a step-daughter.

Mrs. Gearhart was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, Poweshiek Township Women's Club, Christian Women's Fellowship, and Order of Eastern Star.

She had been employed by Mid-west Manufacturing Co in Kellogg.

The daughter of James and Debra Simmons Gregory, she was born march 10, 1913, in Kansas City, Kan.

She was married to Rex Adkins and then to Leslie George Gearhart Feb. 21, 1958. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax Iowa Thur 28 May 1992
