Private Services for R. C. Brandt Set for Wednesday

Memorial services for Richard C. Brandt, 64, of 1108 S. 14th Ave. W., a resident of newton since moving from Cape Girardeau, Mo., in 1958, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church.

Private family services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Reese Chapel.

Dr. Richard Bentzinger, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Friends may call at the Reese Chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church or the Heart Memorial Fund will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Edna; two sons, Joseph R. of Edina, Mo., and David W. of Fayetteville, Ark.; two grandchildren; and two brothers, John J. Brandt of Oceanside, Calif., and David C. Brandt of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Brandt was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign wars, Elks Lodge, Newton Kiwanis Club and Newton Country Club, serving on the club's board of directors.

Mr. Brandt, a Navy veteran of World War II, was founder and former owner of radio station KCOB in Newton. He started the station in 1955.

The son of Joseph and Claire Brandt, he was born May 1, 1915 in East Palestine, Ohio, was graduated from Cape Girardeau, Mo., schools, attended East Missouri state University and was graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla in chemical engineering.

He was married to Edna Wilson Jan. 12, 1940 in Dallas, Tex. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues. 18 Sept 1979.
