Paul Borts, 57, Dies Tuesday; Rites Friday
MINGO – Paul Borts, 57, of Mingo, former longtime owner of a grocery store and filling station on Iowa-65, south of Collins, died Tuesday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Mingo.
The Rev. Lester R. Hesseltine, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Ashton Cemetery, north of Mingo.
Survivors are his wife, Mildred; a son, Donald of Sigourney; and three sisters, Mrs. Reva Morrison of Collins, Mrs. Zelma Slavens of Indio, Calif., and Mrs. Eldon (Lena) Geisler of Mingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son.
Mr. Borts, a former Mingo area farmer, was a member of the United Methodist Church at Mingo and the Farm Bureau.
The son of Eli (Bud) and Bertha Skinner Borts, he was born April 24, 1916 in Jasper County and was educated in Mingo schools.
He was married to Mildred Rumbaugh Feb. 13, 1936 in Des Moines.
