Virginia I. McDaniels, 90, of 3044 Hwy. 14 N. #8 died of a heart attack Monday, March 18, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Dwight Kennedy officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton at a later date.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of William and Bess (Trotter) Atwood, she was born March 28, 1911, in Newton. She received her GED in 1982 at the age of 71. On Feb. 28, 1948, she married Max McDaniels in Newton. She lived in Kellogg from 1948 to 1971 and lived the rest of her life in Newton. She was employed as a factory worked by the Maytag Company and also worked as a nurse’s aide at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Mrs. McDaniels was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ted and Hazel Sutton, Carl and Elizabeth McGee and Mike McDaniels, all of Newton; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Phyllis Seals, Kay Harlow and Danny Dickerson, and Carol and Robert Boyer, all of Newton, and Anne and LeRoy Cloyd of Ottumwa; 29 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Francis Mulbrook of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter and four brothers.
