Lyle E. Wyatt, of Monroe, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 15, 2009, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Born January 8, 1920, in Valley Junction, Iowa, Lyle was the son of Welcome and Minnie (Alfree) Wyatt. He married Naomi F. Zickel January 16, 1944 in Des Moines. Lyle served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. He also enjoyed working at the Red Rock Campgrounds and loved to work on Model A cars. He also enjoyed model trains. Lyle worked 19 years as a custodian for the Newton Community Schools, retiring in 1982. In addition, he delivered Congregate Meals in Monroe for many years. He was a longtime Newton resident prior to moving to Monroe 20 years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monroe.
Survivors are his wife, Naomi of Monroe; a son, Wenton (Barbara) Wyatt of Grinnell; and a daughter N. Jean Tennyson of Des Moines. He also leaves two grandchildren: Robert Wyatt of Grinnell and Leann (Johnathan) Castle of Council Bluffs, four great grandchildren: Joseph, Shaden, and Jevin Wyatt, and Merlin Castle. Also surviving is a sister, Arlene Seeley of Holly Pond, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kay Wyatt; two brothers, Jerry and Bob Wyatt; and sister, Charity John.
