Services Held
Services for Gertrude C. Worth, 97, were held Friday, August 27, 1999, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Rev. Karen Merrill, pastor, officiated the services. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Gertrude passed away Monday evening, August 23, 1999, at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines.
She was born at Monroe February 7, 1902, the daughter of Jesse and Willa Clarke Rinemuth. A 1920 graduate of the Monroe High School she was united in marriage to Russell Worth November 23, 1921, at Monroe. They moved to California shortly after their marriage, returning to Iowa in the 1930’s to make their home in Iowa Falls. They remained there until returning to Monroe in 1946. Mrs. Worth was an active member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Worth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Barbara and John Sayre of West Des Moines, a sister-in-law, Grace Rinemuth of Newton, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother Ralph Rinemuth, and her husband in 1974.
A memorial for the church has been suggested by her family.
