Francis Ann Yoakum, daughter of Caroline and Issac Yoakum, was born near Springfield, Ill., on October 8, 1845 and departed this life at Monroe, Iowa at the age of 84 years and one day. She came to Iowa in her childhood and has resided there ever since. She was united in marriage to Samuel Worth on Feb. 2, 1865. Nine children were born to this union, three dying in infancy.
Mrs. Worth united with the Baptist church in Monroe in Feb. 1860. She was, at the time of her death, the eldest member of the church. The departed was faithful to her church throughout her life and she loved the Lord Jesus Christ whom she served from her childhood days and during the closing years of her life while she was living on borrowed time, she was ever looking forward to the day when she might depart from the body to be present with the Lord. Her husband also a member of the same church preceded her in death on May 10, 1923.
She leaves to mourn her departure three sons, Will, Needham and George of Monroe and three daughters, Mrs. Mary J. Kain of Percy, Iowa, Mrs. Belle Mullins and Mrs. Nola Roush of Monroe. She also leaves five sisters, Mrs. Martha Boekenoogen of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Judette Yoakum, Mrs. Mary Spears and Mrs. John Fouch of Monroe and Mrs. E. Ward of Tustin, Cal.; also three brothers, Wm. Yoakum and Tom Yoakum of Monroe and I. N. Yoakum of Kelsy, Minn. There are also 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Worth was a member of the order of the Eastern Star.
All of her children, who so tenderly cared for her during the time of her illness, were at her bedside when she left this world for a better and fairer land and home of many mansions.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, and conducted by Rev. A. D. Mohr, pastor who spoke on the text in 1st These: 4:13: “I would not have you ignorant brethren concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others, which have no home.” A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Ulrie Clevenger, Mrs. C. M. Cramer, Guy Wilson and Carl Ammer rendered three appropriate numbers.
Pallbearers: Frank Johnson, Wm. Livingston, Jess Rinemuth, Will LeGrand, Jake DeHoedt and Chas. Long.
