Death of Charles C. Worth
Charles C. Worth was born 2 ½ miles southwest of Monroe. He passed away peacefully at 1:20 on the morning of October 27, 1921, age 75 years, 7 months and 21 days having spent his entire life in this vicinity.
His health failed two years ago, being confined to the home for the past year. His suffering was borne with patience and cheerfulness.
He was the son of Joel B. and Eliza Worth, being the third child of a family of seven, all having preceded him to the better land excepting one brother, Samuel Worth of this place and one sister, Mrs. O. M. Bruce, of Walnut, Iowa.
He was married to Margaret Rankin Wilson on June 8, 1871, who departed this life January 9, 1921. He leaves three children to mourn his loss, J. B. Worth, of Des Moines, Ia.; Mrs. J. A. Hevlin, of Omaha, Nebr. and Harry Worth, of Monroe, four grandchildren and one great grandchild, besides a host of friends and acquaintances.
On April 13, 1873 he united with the Baptist church under the eldership of Rev. Hertzog, and had remained a consistent member until his death. He was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Lodge of this place and was a charter member of the Knights of Pythias.
The pallbearers were brother-in-laws of the deceased: Messrs. O. C. Clevenger, Abe Sellers, Chas. Koder, Will Wilson, John Wilson, and Clyde Wilson
The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Baptist church, Rev. A. C. Droz, of Pella, officiating. Rev. Williams, of Newton, conducted the Masonic services, which were also held in the church.
The children wish to thank the neighbors and friends for their kind assistance and sympathy during the sickness and death of their father.
