Life Story of Lydia E. Wilson
Mrs. Burt (Lydia Emma) Wilson, 89, a resident of Newton since 1955, died Monday evening at the Embassy Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at the John Funeral Chapel in Newton.
The Rev. Harold Harryman, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.
Survivors are two sons, Leslie E. and Laurel B., both of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Sam (Fern) Hallam, Mrs. Kenneth (Edith) Smith and Mrs. Phil (Ruby) Trent, all of Newton; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1965, a son, Clyde, three grandchildren, four sisters and a brother.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the former Tool’s Chapel Church east of Monroe.
The daughter of William Bigley and Rhonda Penroy Bigley, she was born February 28, 1883 east of Monroe and attended Monroe schools.
She was married April 18, 1901 near Reasnor.
