Services Held
Lawrence Wilson, age 78, died Saturday, October 16, 1993, at the Griffin Nursing Home, in Knoxville, Iowa. Services were held Tuesday, October 19, 1993 at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Dr. Thomas N. Bass, pastor of the church and Rev. Ken McLeod officiated the services. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
A memorial for the church or the Monroe Rescue Unit has been established.
He was born at Prairie City, October 9, 1915, the son of Don and Mary Timmins Wilson. A 1934 graduate of the Prairie City High School he was united in marriage to Marvel McDaniel at Newton on December 15, 1938. The Wilsons farmed in the Altoona area until 1956 when they moved to Monroe. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife Marvel, three sons and daughters-in-law: Terry Lawrence and Patricia Wilson of Knoxville, Denny Ray and Karen Wilson of Independence, and Rick D. and Beth Wilson of Pella. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two brothers, Arthur of Des Moines and Ray of Prairie City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Earl and an infant son Teddy.
Mr. Wilson was a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church.
