Services Held
Zelma Leona Williams, 87, a resident of the Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton, died of heart failure Saturday, January 4, 1997, at the nursing home.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Newton, officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association will be accepted.
Born Oct. 21, 1909, in rural Newton, she was the daughter of Guy and Myra Brock Emmeck. She graduated from Newton Senior High School.
A lifelong resident of Newton, she was self-employed, washing and ironing clothes. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donita and Dale Milburn of Newton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Oleta Runyan of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lyle; and a sister, Elva.
