Services Held
Funeral services for Robert Walter White, 72, of Newton since 1945, were held Friday, March 29, 1996 at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Daryl Pals, pastor of St. Luke United Methodist Church, conducted services.
Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
He died of cancer Tuesday, March 26, 1996, at the Newton Health Care Center.
Survivors are his wife, Roberta S.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harlan and Dorothy of Clarksville, Arkansas, and Lloyd and Imogene of Monroe; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Kathleen Nolte of Knoxville, Marcella Caulkins of Mesa, Arizona, and Edna and Jim Saltzman of Des Moines; and a sister-in-law, Pauline White of Reasnor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Floyd and Arnold, and a sister, Rosella Ruggles.
Mr. White, a member of the United Auto Workers, Local 997, Retirees Union, had been employed for more than 35 years in the maintenance department of the Maytag Co., retiring in 1982.
The son of Frank F. and Dora Walter White, he was born February 6, 1924, in Oskaloosa and attended Oskaloosa schools.
He was married to Roberta S. Shelton September 1, 1961, in Newton.
