Life Story of Lillian Whaley
Funeral services for Mrs. Frank L. (Lillian) Whaley, Sr., 75, a longtime resident of Monroe, were held Wednesday at the United Presbyterian Church in Monroe.
The Rev. Doug Maben, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are three sons, Dr. George Whaley of Yankton, S.D., Dr. Frank L. Whaley of Fayetteville, N.C., and Dr. David R. Whaley of Herndon, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Florence) Edwards of Storm lake and Mrs. Victor (Ruth) Svec of Hails Corner, Wis.; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965 and her parents.
Mrs. Whaley, organist at the United Presbyterian Church in Monroe for many years, had been a home economics teacher in Monroe for many years, and was resident dean of women at Central College in Pella for two years.
The daughter of Boyd and Belle Jester McFadden, she was born April 28, 1902, in Greene County and was graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.
She was married in June 1928.
She died Saturday at the Calvin Manor in Des Moines.
