Services Held
Services for Tena Westerkamp, who passed away January 13, 1991, were held January 17, 1991 at the Peoria Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. Ronald L. Bouwkamp officiated services. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Tena Bandstra, daughter of Peter and Anna Stursma Bandstra, was born December 25, 1915, on a farm southeast of Pella in Mahaska County, Iowa. Tena was the second of six children born to her parents. She was united in marriage with John F. Westerkamp at her parent’s home near Harvey January 19, 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Westerkamp farmed his parent’s farm for 25 years and had farmed in the Peoria and Taintor, Iowa vicinity for a total of 50 years. They were living southwest of Peoria when John passed away April 12, 1983.
She was survived by children Anne and Jim Mohr of Fairmont, West Virginia; Pete and Nancy Westerkamp of rural Pella; Loretta and Marv Struik of Mesa, Arizona; Fred J. Westercamp of Oskaloosa. She was also survived by ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters surviving are William (Bill) and Durkie Bandstra of Pella and Gertrude and Henry Vande Voort of Pella.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, and 3 brothers – Paul, Gilbert, and Raymond Bandstra.
