Charles K. Webb, 80, of 820 E. 9th St. S. died of cancer Tuesday, Dec. 25, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Newton with the Rev. David Smiley, interim pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home where family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to First Baptist Church and may be left at the church on Friday or at the funeral home.
The son of LeRoy E. and Hilma A. Johnson Webb, he was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Lucas County. He attended Chariton High School. On Nov. 24, 1982, he married Arlene Kool Main in Altoona. He served in the United States Army during World War II and worked for the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring in 1982 as a supervisor in the die cast department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, taught a Sunday school class and led a Bible study group.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Kathleen of Newton and Robert of Missouri; a daughter and son-in-law, Sabra and Gary Sonksen of Newton; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Mark Diamond of Superior, Wis., and Connie and Ronald Mishler of Georgia; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters-in-law: D.R. Webb of Kenmore, Wash., Duane and Doris of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ray and Wretha of Murray and Harold and Betty of Chariton, and many nieces and nephews.
