Grinnell – Ruth M. Nicolet Waddle, 91, of Grinnell, formerly of Pella, died from complications of pneumonia Monday, May 14, of Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Burial will be at Dunreath Cemetery in Monroe.
Friends may call today at the funeral home where family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Bible Truth Publishers.
The daughter of Charles U. and Alvine E. Sandoz Nicolet, she was born June 19, 1909, in Alden. She married Earl E. Waddle on Jan. 19, 1930. They lived southwest of Monroe until 1984, when they moved to Pella. In December of 1997 she moved to Grinnell. She enjoyed sewing and baking.
Survivors include a son, Robert E. of Monroe, two daughters, Judith A. Cowman of Freeport, Ill., and Nancy R. Renaud of Grinnell a sister, Grace E. Campbell of Iowa Falls, 17 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

Services Held
Services for Ruth M. Nicolet Waddle, 91, were held Thursday May 17, 2001, at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Mr. Douglas Nicolet, spoke at the services. Interment was in Dunreath Cemetery near Monroe.
Ruth passed away May 14, 2001 at Grinnell Regional Health Center in Grinnell.
Ruth Martha Nicolet was born on June 19, 1909, in Hardin County, Alden, Iowa. She was the youngest of ten children that were born to Charles U. and Alvine Eloise (Sandoz) Nicolet, both of whom were born in Switzerland. They lived near Alden and Ruth was 11 years old when the family moved to a farm south of Iowa Falls. She lived there until the time of her marriage on January 15, 1930, to Earl Eugene Waddle at Alden. Ruth and Earl moved to the home Earl built on his parents farm southwest of Monroe. They farmed there for almost 54 years. In 1984 they retired and moved into Pella. It was there that Earl passed away on February 4, 1996. Ruth continued to make her home there following Earl’s death until December of 1997 when she became a resident at the Mayflower Health Care Center in Grinnell.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Robert and Margo Waddle of Monroe, Judith and Edward Cowman of Freeport, Illinois, Nancy and Marvin Renaud of Grinnell, and Gerrit (Jean Waddle) Renaud of Pella, 17 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren. Of her original family, she leaves her sister, Grace E. Campbell of Iowa Falls.
Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Earl, her daughter, Jean Renaud, her parents, all her brothers and three sisters.
