Services Held
Services for Earl E. Waddle, of Pella, were held Wednesday, February 7 at the Chapel of the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Mr. Douglas Nicolet spoke. Interment was in Dunreath Cemetery in Monroe.
Earl passed away at home late Sunday evening, February 4, 1996.
Earl Eugene Waddle, an only son of James and Emma Templeton Waddle, was born on February 8, 1908, in Marion County near Monroe. He graduated from high school in Monroe. On January 15, 1930, he was united in marriage with Ruth Martha Nicolet at Alden, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Jean, Robert Eugene, Judith Ann and Nancy Ruth. After their marriage Earl and Ruth moved to the home he built on his parents’ farm southwest of Monroe. They farmed there for almost 54 years. In 1984, they retired and moved into Pella, Iowa, where they made their home.
Survivors are his wife, Ruth, their four children and their spouses and 17 grandchildren. They are: Jean and Gerrit Renaud of Pella – Shirley and John Roossinck, Sheryl and Dan Brown, Charlene and Jim Brown, Stan G. and Ruth Renaud, Sharon and Dennis Buchanan, Scott B. and Abbie Renaud; Robert and Margo Waddle of Monroe – Rick E. and Carol Waddle, Randy G. and Tammy Waddle, Susan and Howard Potter; Judith and Edward F. Cowman of Freeport, Illinois – Jeff E. and Cindy Cowman, Darla and Jim Benjamin, Brent N. and Darliene Cowman, Shaun E. and Dawn Cowman; Nancy and Marvin Renaud of Grinnell – Kent E. and Jennifer Renaud, Kurt A. Renaud, Kraig N. Renaud and Kyle W. Renaud.
Earl’s family has continued to grow and includes 29 great grandchildren, along with his younger sister, Mrs. Dorothy E. (Millard) Farmer of Montezuma, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, who died in infancy.
Memorials may be designated for Hospice of Pella.
