Services Held
Services for Mary Ruth Simbro, 74, of Monroe, were held Tuesday, August 7, 2001, at the Monroe United Methodist Church. The Rev. Harold Koughn officiated the services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Mary Ruth Simbro passed away Thursday, August 2, 2001, at Heritage Manor in Newton, from complications of Alzheimer’s.
Memorials may be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mary Ruth Simbro was born September 26, 1926 in Colfax, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Mary (Dolinsek) Wilson. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1945. She was united in marriage in September of 1971 to Alman Burton “Red” Simbro. She was a lifetime resident of Jasper County. She owned and operated R & R Antiques for several years with her husband.
Mary Ruth is survived by a daughter, Debbie Karsten and her husband, Terry of Newton; a son Kenny VanderPool and his wife, Chris Ann also of Newton; a stepdaughter, Hazel Peats of Denver, Colorado; a stepson, Burt Simbro of Monroe, Iowa; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three sisters: Virginia Boothroy and her husband Bill of Altoona, Iowa, Agnes Agar of Lima, Ohio, Velma Fraker of Mitchellville, Iowa, and a brother, Donald Wilson of Mathiston, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996
