Services Held
Genevieve C. Jack Simbro, 75, of Grinnell, a former resident of Jasper County, died Sunday, October 27, 1991, at the Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Dunreath Cemetery, southwest of Monroe.
Survivors are three sons, Ronald of Milroy, Ind., Jim of Grinnell and Charles of Baldwin, Wisconsin; a daughter, Sharon Wetterling of Cadott, Wisconsin; three stepsons, Burton of Monroe, Eugene of Knoxville and Raymond of Pella; two stepdaughters, Arlene Hicks and Betty Shinn, both of Knoxville; 46 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Dwight Jack of California and Thayne Jack of Des Moines; and two sisters, Catheryn Koder and Martha Johnston, both of Prairie City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Mary Paul, a stepson Leroy, a stepdaughter, Viola Dietrick and a brother, Lewis Jack.
Mrs. Simbro, a member of the Grinnell Senior Citizens Center’s kitchen band, had worked for Novak-Repp Truck Stop in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, in food service at Grinnell College and at the Grinnell Hy-Vee Deli.
The daughter of D. W. and Lela Workman Jack, she was born March 12, 1916, near Milton in Van Buren County. The family later moved to Monroe where she was graduated from Monroe Community High School.
She was married to Charles Simbro at Lancaster, Mo., January 3, 1932, and the couple farmed near Newton, Kellogg and Grinnell before moving to Ladysmith, Wisconsin. In 1977, they moved to Grinnell.
