Services Held
Funeral services for Joe Sille, 79, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, were held at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials to the Skiff Medical Center Special Care Unit may be left at the funeral home.
He died December 6, 1991, at Skiff Medical Center of complications following abdominal surgery.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Kay (Mrs. Glenn) Haines of Grinnell and Judy (Mrs. Robert) Hitchler of Newton; six grandchildren; a brother, Richard of Newton; and a sister, Betty Sille of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William, and four sisters, Jennie, Beulah, Sophia and Marie.
Mr. Sille, a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau, had farmed north of Newton from 1948 until moving into Newton in March 1991.
The son of Dirk and Johanna Fraaken Sille, he was born April 25, 1912, east of Monroe and attended Monroe schools.
He was married to Margaret Vander Schel August 21, 1941 in Unionville, Missouri.
