Funeral services for Bret Allen Sickels were held on Saturday, August 6, 2005, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery.
Bret Allen Sickels, age 43 of Winterset, died Tuesday, August 2, 2005, of a liver ailment at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset.
The son of Sydney Ames & Rita Lorraine (Miller) Sickels, Bret was born on June 14, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa. Her graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1981. He worked as a truck driver for many years and most recently as a warehouseman at O’Reilly Auto Parts Warehouse. While living in Polk City, Bret worked on the Polk City Volunteer Fire Department. He loved NASCAR Racing, outdoors activities and cooking.
Bret is survived by his two daughters, Chrystle Colyn and her husband Rory and Susan Sickels; a son, Jonathan Brumbaugh; his parents, Sydney and Rita; a sister, Diane Carroll; a brother, Chris Sickels; three grandchildren; a great granddaughter; his two grandmothers, Veda Miller and Elpha Sickels and three nephews and a niece.
Preceding Bret in death were his grandfathers and a daughter, Amanda Jean Brumbaugh.
