Death Comes To H. Sheeler
Howard Sheeler, son of Isiah and Harriett Mosier Sheeler, one of a family of 10 children, was born in Jasper county, Iowa, on December 14, 1861, and passed away at his home two miles east of Monroe on June 16, 1952, at the age of 90 years 6 months and 2 days.
At an early age he moved with his parents to Keokuk county, Iowa, where he resided until manhood.
After the death of his first wife Jeanetta McConeghey he was united in marriage to Mary Bigley on March 2, 1898. To this union were born three children who survive him; Mrs. Gladys Berkenbosch of Reasnor, Mrs. Gail Visser and Howard W. Sheeler of Monroe.
He has been a life long member of the Tools Chapel Methodist church, which he regularly attended until his health failed.
He was a kind and helping neighbor and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in April 1915.
He also leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters, Mrs. Oakley Jarnigan and Mrs. Hattie Palmer both of Des Moines, 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
May dear and treasured memories, Now comfort you each day, For like sweet flowers in you heart, They will not fade away.
Burial was at Gifford.
