Services Friday For W. B. Shaw
William B. Shaw, lifelong resident and active supporter of Monroe and Jasper County, died Wednesday morning after a brief illness.
The funeral services will be held at the Monroe Presbyterian Church Friday, Dec. 15, at 2:00 p.m.
The family asks that in place of flowers remembrances be sent to the church in the name of W. B. Shaw.

Life Story of Wm. B. Shaw
William B. Shaw of Monroe passed away at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton December 13 after a short illness, at the age of 78 years and nine days.
William (better known as Bill) was born December 4, 1894, at Monroe, the son of Samual W. and Elizabeth Shaw. He was born on the farm where he lived his entire life until his recent illness.
On August 1, 1917, he was united in marriage to Marie Jarnagin of Monroe, who survives him along with their son, Dwight Shaw of West Des Moines.
Surviving Mr. Shaw besides his wife and son are two granddaughters, Jeri Lynn Shaw and Sheri Kay Shaw, along with a brother, Raymond Shaw of Aberdeen, S. Dak.
Bill Shaw lived his entire lifetime in the Monroe Community, being very active in many community, civic and public activities, such as Monroe Old Settlers, Monroe Kiwanis Club, 26 years on the Monroe Public School Board as well as the Jasper County School Board.
Mr. Shaw was a lifetime active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Monroe.
A memorial fund for the United Presbyterian Church has been established in memory of Mr. Shaw.
Funeral services for Mr. Shaw were held Friday, Dec. 15, at the Monroe United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. George J. Cottay, Jr., pastor of the church officiated.
Burial was in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
