Nicholas Duane “Nick” Sellers, 57, son of Duane and Wilma Sellers left this world on September 23, 2009.
Memorial services were held at the Monroe Presbyterian Church on Sunday, September 27, 2009 with burial at Silent City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests that memorials be made to the Nicholas D. Sellers Memorial Fund.
He was born on December 3, 1951 at Wilden Hospital in Des Moines. Nick graduated from Monroe High School in 1970. Upon graduation he attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls. Nick enjoyed watching football and his favorite team to watch was the Green Bay Packers. Nick also enjoyed baseball and was a fan of NASCAR.
During his adult years, Nick was employed as a truck driver, mechanic and also worked construction. He also owned and operated the Southside Tavern in Monroe for several years.
Nick is survived by his daughter Marci (Sam) McIlrath and two granddaughters, Reagan and Rayne of Laurel; his parents Duane and Wilma Sellers of Monroe; his brother Bill (Mary) Sellers of Monroe; his nephew Caleb Sellers of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandmother Mabel Sellers of Newton; his uncle Jerry Sellers of Monroe as well as many cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Harold Sellers; his maternal grandparents Carl and Nellie Mullins; his aunt Mary Ellen Sellers; two aunts Doris and Marilyn Mullins and a nephew Harold Uriah “Uri” Sellers.
