Hubert Floyd “Gus” Schrader, age 79 of Monroe, died Sunday, September 3, 2006, at Pella Regional Hospital in Pella, Iowa.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.
The son of Floyd and Maude (Kain) Schrader, Gus was born on December 25, 1926, in rural Jasper County. He graduated from Newton High School in 1945. Gus married Violet Marshall in August 1948, and they had four children, David (Bobbi) of Monroe, Mike (Linda) of Chariton, Mary Donahue of Des Moines, and Molly (Tom) Rawls of Altoona, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Gus’ two sisters, Inez Thomason and Ruby Wallace reside in Monroe.
Gus served in the United States Air Force during the early 1950s and was a member of the Monroe American Legion. He was a farmer and also worked as a truck driver and bus driver. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and other sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
