Body of Former Jasper Resident Being Returned
John Wesley Schooley, 81, who lived on a farm east of Reasnor for many years but moved to California 50 years ago, died at 6:15 o’clock Monday morning at the Los Angeles General hospital, according to word received in Newton.
Mr. Schooley was a resident of Pasadena, Cal. Funeral services were held in Pasadena Tuesday, and the body is being returned to Monroe for burial. Funeral arrangements in Monroe are not yet complete pending arrival of the eldest son, Walter Schooley, from Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Schooley was born in Monroe in 1867. His wife died several years ago. He was minister of the Church of the Nazarene for many years in California.
Survivors include three sons, Walter, and Roy Marion of Kansas City and Robert Wesley of New Jersey.

Schooley Rites Today at Monroe
Funeral services for John Wesley Schooley were held this morning from the Crumpacker Funeral Home in Monroe. Rev. A. R. Cuthbert, a brother-in-law of Mr. Schooley, officiated. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery beside his wife, who died many years ago.
Mr. Schooley’s body was returned to Monroe for burial from Pasadena, Cal., where he had moved years ago from Jasper county. He had died May 10, in California, and services were held there May 12.
For many years Mr. Schooley was a devoted member of the Methodist church. He was born in Monroe, May 9, 1867, the oldest son of Dr. John W. Schooley, a Monroe physician.
Pallbearers at the rites were John Van Dusseldorf, Ray Roush, James Roush, Gene Roush, Paul Rainer and David Roush. Survivors include three sons, Walter G. of Kansas City, Mo., Roy M. of Topeka, Kan., and Robert W. of Montclair, N.J.’ two brothers, William Schooley of El Monte, Cal., and James E. of Borup, Minn., and one sister, Mrs. George Killinger of Des Moines.
