Services Held
Pearl Rose Schakel, 96, of Valley View Village in Des Moines, a former resident of Prairie City, died Tuesday evening, August 21, 1990, at the Village.
Funeral services were held Friday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
A nephew, the Rev. Robert D. Williams, retired United Methodist Church minister, conducted services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Survivors are a brother, Paul Schakel of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews.
Miss Schakel was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
She was a member of the Des Moines First United Methodist Church, AV Chapter of the PEO in Prairie City and the Valley View Village Build.
She was a retired employee of the State of Iowa Revenue Department.
The daughter of Dirk and Sophia DeLarm Schakel, she was born November 14, 1893 in Beaconfield.
