Services Held
Funeral services for George E. Scarbrough, 81, of Newton, were held Aug. 4, 1984 at the Reese Chapel.
The Rev. Trevor Davis-Hajek, pastor of the Pleasant View United Methodist church southeast of Newton, conducted services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Calvin (Elaine) Crook of Newton; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Mrs. C. B. O’Dell of Camas, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son, David.
The son of Oren and Millie Scarbrough, he was born Nov. 23, 1902 on a farm in Jasper County.
He was raised in Reasnor and spent most of his life in Newton.
He was married to Agatha Darleen Marquis Nov. 24, 1923 in Newton.
