Services held
Funeral services for Dirk “Dick” W. Rozenberg of Monroe, 73, was held Wednesday, August 8, 1984 at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Dr. Richard Bentzinger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Newton, conducted services. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Dick died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 5, 1984 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Mr. Rozenberg was inducted into the Iowa Plowmen’s Hall of Fame by Iowa Gov. Harold Hughes and Herb Plambeck, founder of the Hall of Fame, in recognition of his achievements in the 1953 Iowa Plowing Matches and the 1954 National Plowing Matches.
Survivors are his wife, Kathryn; three daughters, Maxine Ward of Cleveland, Tenn., Norman Honnold of West Des Moines, and Barbara Briggs of Ventura, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Andrew of Pella, Ben of Des Moines and Marion of Newton; and a sister, Dena Gertsma of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Wayne, and two brothers, Henry and Jacob.
The son of William and Maggie Van Hulven Rozenberg, he was born Sept. 9, 1910 in Otley.
He was married to Kathryn Gecel Sept. 4, 1935.
Mr. Rozenberg farmed in the Otley and Monroe areas and was a feed salesman at the time of his retirement.
