Monroe – Otis A. Ross, 89, of Monroe died of heart failure Tuesday, May 15, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Friends may call today at the funeral home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name.
The son of William A. and Etta A. Steward Ross, he was born Oct. 12, 1911, in Jasper County. He attended country schools in the area and worked as a millwright for the Maytag Corporation for 33 years. He retired in 1976. In 1938 he married Nancy Roberta Lewis in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Survivors include two sons, Otis Allen of Des Moines and L. Owen of Newton; two daughters, Nancy Ann and Naoma Gayle of Monroe; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two brothers, Wilber and Blaine, both of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and a sister.

Services Held
Services for Otis A. Ross were held Friday, May 18, 2001, at Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery.
Otis Ross, 89, passed away May 15, 2001, at Pella Regional Hospital of a heart ailment.
Otis was a lifelong resident of Jasper County and had worked in Machine Repair at Maytag for 33 years. He retired in 1976.
Survivors are two daughters, Nancy Ross of Monroe, Naoma Ross of Monroe; two sons, Otis Ross of Des Moines, and L. Owen Ross of Newton; 3 granddaughters, 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Wilbert Ross and Blaine Ross both of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by Nancy (Lewis) Ross.
An Otis A. Ross Memorial Fund has been established.
