Bob Ross (not the painter), age 57 of Monroe, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Hospice of Pella Comfort House. Funeral services for Bob were held on Monday July 13, 2009, at Coburn Funeral Home of Monroe with burial following at Silent City Cemetery of Monroe.
Memorials may be given to the Bob Ross Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
Bob was born on November 14, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bob was raised by Clarence and Nola Branum in a foster home. The Branum family raised more than 132 foster children but Bob was very special to them. On August 3, 1984, Bob was united in marriage with Paula Vanderwaal in Prairie City. Bob was a truck driver and saw the entire country. If he didn’t drive there he hitched hiked a ride there. Bob enjoyed being a child of the 60’s and even attended Woodstock. He also had an admiration for cars.
Survivors are his wife Paula Ross, daughter, Lisa Ritchie, her husband Kevin and their children Danielle and Nicholas, and son, Nathan Ross, his girlfriend Suzan and their son Blake. Bob will also be remembered by five sisters, a foster sister Marie and a foster brother-in-law Mike Diliberto.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, foster sister Candy Diliberto and foster brother, Johnny Turner.
