Andrew Rooda, 78 of Otley, died January 26, 1984 at the Pella Community Hospital.
Services were held Saturday, January 28, 1984 at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church Pella, Iowa. The Rev. Robert Holwerda officiated with burial at Portergrove Cemetery, near Leighton, Iowa.
Andrew Rooda, son of Sybren and Renske Kuipers Rooda, was born Nov. 10, 1905, in the Netherlands. On May 22, 1930 he was united in marriage with Clara Van Dyk, also of the Netherlands. To this union four children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Rooda immigrated to America in 1948 where they farmed in Minnesota and then in the Pella area until their retirement in 1976 when they moved to the Otley area.
Surviving are his wife, Clara; four children: Stanley of Newton, Merrit of Searsboro, Henry of Otley, Renee of Otley; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Henry Rooda of Pella; two sisters: Minnie Boonstra of Minn.; Jantje De Haan of the Netherlands.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Mrs. Brace Boonstra, two brothers, Merrit and Ruurd.
