Lucille M. (Bucklin) Nelson, 90, formerly of Baxter, died on Monday, August 1, 2016, at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 6, at the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 5, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Evangelical Free Church in Newton may be left at the church the morning of the service or the funeral home.

Lucille, the daughter of Vincent E. and Cora (Kern) Crabb, was born on May 9, 1926 in Collins. She graduated from Collins High School and lived there until 1945. On August 24, 1945, Lucille was united in marriage with Carl E. Bucklin in Port Orchard, Washington. They made their home in Baxter. Lucille was a Nurse’s Aide working at Skiff Medical Center and at Baxter Healthcare. In the early 1970’s, Lucille and Carl owned Carl’s Place in Baxter. She later worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Iowa Veteran’s Home for 14 years, retiring in 1991. Following Carl’s death, Lucille was married to Leonard Nelson on February 18, 1994 in Baxter. In 2005, she moved to Newton and in 2010 to the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter. Lucille enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, traveling, and camping. She also was an exceptional cook.

Those left to honor Lucille’s memory are her son, Bill Bucklin of Marshalltown, Iowa; daughter, Kathy Bucklin (Eddie) Faire of Sikeston, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Cindy Bucklin of Newton; her grandchildren, Andy Bucklin, Sonya Bucklin, Matt Bucklin, Nick Bucklin, and Alana (David) Kirkman; and great-grandchildren, Keegan Bucklin, Brandon Kirkman, Deana Kirkman, Levi Kirkman, Anna Kirkman, Kaleb Bucklin, Reese Bucklin, and Elliott Bucklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Carl Bucklin; 2nd husband, Leonard Nelson; sons, Jim Bucklin, Mike Bucklin, and Ronnie Bucklin; sister, Betty Tiffany; and a granddaughter, Lacey Bucklin. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 1 Aug 2016.
