Services Held
Funeral services for Cassie Rickabaugh were held Wednesday, January 6, 1993, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Rev. Karen Merrill conducted the services. Rev. Frazer Thomason officiated a Family Prayer Service prior to the services. Interment was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Cassie Frazer was born at Galesburg, Iowa, on September 23, 1898, the daughter of William O. and Cornelia Vriezelaar Frazer. She moved with her family to Otley, Iowa, in 1910. On June 18, 1916, she was united in marriage to Lorin “Chub” Rickabaugh at the home of her parents at Otley. They lived in the Otley area a few years and then moved to Monroe, where they lived the rest of their lives. Cassie died on Monday, January 3, 1993, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center at the age of 94 years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lorin, their four children: Gladys Faye (Mrs. Burton) Zerley, Irma Gene (Mrs. C. H.) Tool, Raymond Vance and Lorin Lee Rickabaugh, her parents, four brothers: Charles O., Ver L., Ralph W., and Floyd F. Frazer, and four sisters: Edna (Mrs. Conrad) Sille, L. Elsie (Mrs. John) Vander Ploeg, Mabel (Mrs. H. Wallace) Thomason, and Alma (Mrs. R. V.) McKeever.
Cassie is survived by five grandchildren: Michel (Mrs. Tom) Daniels and Jacqueline Robinson, both of Monroe, L. Dennis Rickabaugh, Newton, and Shelley (Mrs. Michael) Zarling and Sherri Rickabaugh, both of Carlisle, eight great grandchildren: Tisha (Mrs. Roy) Daniels, Davenport, Bridget (Mrs. Jan) Evans, Des Moines, Brent Rickabaugh, Cedar Falls, Ryan and Andrea Zarling, Carlisle and Chris Daniels, Sean and Melissa Robinson all of Monroe; two step great grandsons: Todd Zarling, Wichita, KS, and Clinton Evans of Newton. Also surviving are eight great-great-grandchildren: Daphanie, Monica and Justin Martin and Michael Daniels, all of Davenport, Jared Evans, Des Moines and Sandra, Christina and Cassie Daniels of Monroe.
Mrs. Rickabaugh was a member of the Amvets Auxiliary, the Women’s Relief Corps for over fifty years, the Chat-A-Bit Club for nearly sixty years and the Martha and Mary Sunday School Class at the United Methodist Church.
