Life Story of Rosa Marie Rethmeier
Mrs. Frederick William (Rosa Maria) Rethmeier, 79, of Newton, died Saturday morning at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Zoar United Church of Christ, north of Newton.
The Rev. John Voth conducted the services. Burial was in the Zoar Cemetery.
Survivors are five sons, Ralph of Des Moines, Glen of Newton, Robert of Albion, Donald of Rt. 1, Laurel, and Verne of Marshalltown; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Foster of Corydon, Mrs. Errol (Violet) Smith of Monroe, Mrs. Robert (Myrtle) Foster of Cambria and Mrs. Verna Ulrey of Monroe; 30 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Eva Stolzman of Marshalltown, Mrs. Clara Eibs of Haverhill and Mrs. Alice Carsten of Colonial Manor in Baxter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, Nov. 6, 1940, three sons and three grandsons.
Mrs. Rethmeier was a member of the Zoar United Church of Christ.
The daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Kline Tinnermeier, she was born July 8, 1893 in rural Jasper County.
She was married Dec. 9, 1914 at the Tinnermeier family home north of Newton.
